I had my upper left forward molar extracted nine weeks ago. After four lots
of antibiotics which failed to encourage a blood clot, I am left with a hole
in my gum (about 3mm by 2mm) resulting in an exposed jaw. This is causing
some pain which I moderate with paracetamol and codeine but the last couple
of days has worsened. My dentist is surprised at the pain levels I am
experiencing, and has arranged X rays of my sinuses. I am sure that the pain
is coming from the hole!
Can anyone recommend a salve or balm that I can apply, preferably with an
anaesthetic component. Also will the site eventually heal completely.
Finally, I dont think there is an infection at present, but would increasing
pain levels indicate the contrary.

Sounds like a worse case dry socket I have ever heard of.
